Kite Fabric: TYVEKŪ per metre (TS0949)
TYVEKŪ is made of polyethylene fibres uniquely spun bonded, randomly laid and then compressed to form a remarkably tough material that's ideal for various applications where durability, lightweight, tear resistance and ease of use are prime considerations.
The unique, nonwoven-fibre structure of TyvekŪ resists air infiltration and water intrusion, yet is engineered to readily allow moisture vapour to diffuse through the sheet. Available per metre from a roll width of 1.5metres, TYVEKŪ has many diverse uses within a Technology and Science curriculum, including kite-making, banners, Chinese lanterns, land yacht sails and as a waterproof mapping or writing material.TYVEKŪ is a material with high tear resistance. Hence when using the material for kite making, edges need not be supported nor hemmed.
Not withstanding the material is easily sewn, glued and or taped together.Conventional school printing, painting techniques are readily applied to the the bright white finish of TYVEKŪ, making decoration of kites, banners, carry bags, masks or lanterns easily accomplished within the school classroom.(Please note that because the roll width of TYVEKŪ is 1.5 metres, a lineal metre of this material equates to 1.5square metres)
