Switch: reed switch: Pk/ 10 (TS1051) This small precision reed switch, twin terminal type, is sensitive to switching on and off by the proximity of a small magnet.Specifications: length16 mm, diameter 5 mm; nominal voltage 12 V x 500 mA. Reed switches are able to operate without being touched. A small magnet may operate the switch when only 10 mm away.Children will discover a myriad uses for this type of switching. By placing a small magnet on a vehicle it can be made to trigger another circuit as the vehicle passes the switch.Please note that reed switches are encapsulated in a glass casing and must be handled carefully.Hint: Use a section of terminal block on either end of the reed switch to make a secure connection into a circuit.Test the effect of such a switch included in a circuit with a globe by rotating a cork to which is attached a small piece of magnetic strip or a latch magnet.
