The Model Solar Boat competition for most Australian States allows boats for the 'wire guided' competition to be powered by a combination of panels or a single panel based on commercially available silicon photovoltaic cells. A maximum total active cell area of 350 cm2 is allowed. (Active area, means the area covered by the photovoltaic cells only, and does not including encapsulation around the edges and between cells. Solar cells do not have positve bouyancy and should be firmly secured to the hull of the boat. (Hook and Loop self adhesive fastening are a lightweight and satifactory fastening method, particularly if panels are to be shared between teams.) The solar Panel TS0626 may be configured to suit conditions and or motors as it comes suppied with sets contact points. General Purpose Photovoltaic Solar Panel The solar panel TS0629 is an encapsulated silicon photovoltaic panel and may be configured for use in parallel or series it comes supplied with two sets of integral lead lead points. A maximum total active cell area of 394 cm2 (Active area, means the area covered bythe photovoltaic cells only, and does not including encapsulation around the edges and between cells. Supplied with alligator leads for ease of use.
